Alameda Corridor South End

The $2.4-billion Alameda Corridor project is a 20-mile railroad expressline that connects the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to the transcontinental rail network east of downtown Los Angeles, CA. The corridor opened on April 12, 2002, on schedule and within budget.

This is a view of the South end of the trench portion of the project. The track enters the large trench at the top of the photo, providing a grade seperation and eliminating at grade crossing. All told, the project eliminated nearly 200 railroad crossings.
