Caritas in it's new paint scheme

The Caritas was built as a 14rmte., 4 BDR sleeper for the StLSF in 1948 called then "Pierre LaClede." Its twin sister, Cimarron River is our partner car for charters and special trains.

High Iron bought it from the the CN (who had acquired it from the Frisco in 1965) in 1983 and spent two years converting her into the Caritas, an art-deco business car. The roomettes were all removed, the platform added along with a kitchen, master bedroom and showers. She can take 8 guests and a crew of two anywhere as the Caritas has large holding tanks, water supply and two diesel generators.

In addition to charters that generally run on VIA or Amtrak, High Iron also operates a number of "rare-mileage" specials. These can be found on our website at: www.highirontravel.com
