UP 3300 in the United Way paint scheme

This view shows the Union Pacific United Way engine on a southbound train through Wichita on July 27, 1996, headed for the South Kansas and Oklahoma Rwy in Arkansas City. SKOL Rwy will take the train there and head east through the rolling hills of southeast Kansas. This train weighs 12,000 tons and will be challenged by the terrain it will encounter. Ultimately, the SKOL will turn it north at Fredonia bound for Kansas City, onto UP tracks again. The train was forced to detour due to track work north of the city. Photo by Richard C. Hitchcock
