These are two of the photos that are on display at the Visitors Center Falls restaurant in St. John, New Brunswick, at the Reversing Falls. There are two bridges, the one in the foreground in the auto / trolley bridge and the one behind it is the railroads bridge. The images are circa 1900, and take note these are two different types of trolleys.

Rock Island "Pearl Train" art, Photo #1

In the 1880's the Rock Island railroad produced and distributed the famous "Pearl Train" art works. They are a combination of painting and mother-of-pearl mosaic depicting an early steam powered passenger train, posed in front of the Rocky Mountains. They are, frame included, about 7.5 feet wide and 2 feet high.

There is one on the back wall of the "railroad room" bar in Clyde's, a pub located in the trendy Georgetown Park Mall of Washington D.C. (Another is located in Clyde's of Tysons's Corners in northern Virginia.) The photo is of The Pearl Train in Clyde's of Georgetown. It might wet your appetite to want to see the picture in person.

SCL GP30 1301 in Tallahassee, FL

My first picture of Seaboard Coast Line GP30 1301. It was taken in Tallahassee, Florida, in 1973. This was one of the few repainted SCL engines to have the stylized SCL and numbers on the cab.

This picture is of a Seaboard System GP35 1406. It was taken in Dothan, AL, in 1984. The engine is still in it's SCL paint and has it's SCL road number.

This picture of Seaboard System GP40 6718 was taken in Dothan, AL, in 1984. The engine is showing her heritage as her SEABOARD AIR LINE lettering is showing through her SCL paint. If you look close you may be able to see the reverse image hearld on the nose. This engine went on to become an OPERATION REDBLOCK engine under CSXT.

Seattle Transit System Last Trolley

The photo was taken by my father, Robert J. Hamlin, a Seattle Transit System motor coach operator (ex motorman), on the afternoon of Saturday, May 5, 1941. Car 703 is on 8th Avenue N. W. in the Ballard area. It is on its last inbound trip to the barn. Early the next morning (2:15 am according to records) the last car (No. 706) ended trolley car service in Seattle.

I would like to hear from anybody with an interest in the old Seattle Municipal Railway. Bob Hamlin
