Built by GE at Erie in 1957. BA&P bought two new electrics, numbers 201 and 202. There were also three GP-7s and four GP-9s on the system in 1967. The newer electrics and geeps were painted bright yellow and black. Trains Magazine published an excellent feature story on the BA&P in July, 1963. Anaconda, MT, June 1967.

Canadian Pacific FP-9 #1413

GMD FP-9 built in Canada May 1954. Painted in CP's classic tuscan red and pale grey with yellow striping. That's not a pantograph on the roof, it's an icicle-breaker. Photographed at Vancouver, July, 1967.

CASO Line in Fort Erie, Ontario

This photo was taken at the end of CASO line in Fort Erie, Ontario, about 1/4 mile away from the International Bridge. The building behind the lead unit is the NYC station at Fort Erie. This once bustling yard is now a shadow of it's former self. CNR has all but pulled out, the CASO line has gone from high speed double track to a poor excuse for a shortline's single track. CNR still uses this route, however, to get to Buffalo and Black Rock yard. Date August/67 Photo © 1999, John Vincent

CN Fairbanks Morse CLiner

This photo was taken in Toronto, Ontario at CNR's Spadina roundhouse. The three units are on the outdoor radial tracks outside the roundhouse. The 6700 is a Fairbanks Morse CLiner. This is the passenger version with the 6 wheel truck under the rear of the unit. The #1209 is an SW1200RS, a road switcher version of the familiar SW1200 by GM. And just poking it's nose around the corner is a GP9 #4576.

To add reference to this location, these units are now sitting roughly where third base is in the Skydome ball park in Toronto. Home plate resides in the turntable pit. This photo was taken in September of 1966. Photo © 1999, John Vincent

CPR Freight at Port Hope, Ontario 1967

This photo was taken in early April of 1967. The consist is headed by a CPR C424 #4224, RS18 #8763, FB2 and a new SD40. The consist is a westbound mixed freight about a mile west of Port Hope. There is a passing siding on the CPR at this point. the lead unit is just on top of the switch for that siding. The CNR parallels the CPR for quite a number of miles through this area of the country. It made for great train shooting back then as the CNR is only about 150 feet away from the CPR at this point. Races between the two competitiors were not unusual. Photo © 1999, John Vincent

RS1804.jpg was taken in Port Hope Ontario In April 1967. The train is a west bound CPR mixed freight. It's headed by a mixed bag of and RS18 #8785, FB1, FB2, FB2, RS10 (passenger version with steam heat. The track in the forground is the intercahnge track between the CPR and CNR in front of CNR's Port Hope station. This structure is all stone and dates back to the Grand Trunk Railway days.
