The Pacific Railroad Preservation Association (PRPA) operated the SP&S 700 on Homecoming Excursion, April 20-23, 2001. The trip was a a 4-day, 750 mile ride from Vancouver, WA to Spokane, WA and return, with an overnight stay in Pasco, WA each direction.

During the return trip to Vancouver, 2 cars derailed at Pasco, WA during some switching moves. Luckily there were no injuries and damage was mininimal. Since one of the cars was a power car, the passengers were bussed to Vancouver.
