Special Trains : UP Inspection Train 11-2001

UP Inspection Special operated November 18th, 2001, starting at LAUS, Track 10, 7:00am. UP 4526, 4527, and 9 business cars pulled out of the passenger terminal at approx. 7:20am for a brief trip down the east bank of the Los Angeles River to Downey Wye in East L.A., for a one-hour stop to wait for the boarding of VIP. After Kenefick, Davidson, Evans, & Co. returned from their tour of the harbor and reboarded the train, the UP Special left E. L. A. around 8:45am, taking the old LA&SL (L.A. Sub.) out to Riverside Jct., and jumped onto BN Santa Fe rails for the brisk run over Cajon Pass on the north track. We ended our chase at Summit but still managed to get some photos between L.A. and Cajon Pass.
